The Second
Long Night
of Unfunded Projects
Im Rahmen von WHATNOW?
»Here, you would see a 5-by-8-meter-tall display of a palm-lined esplanade, and here (performer struts across the stage), in the middle of the space, you would see saltwater ponds made of white to translucent fabrics with a crackling effect (imitates the sound), and here (points to the front right edge of the stage), here (enthusiastically) you could see a flamingo«.
Every few minutes, a fantastic idea is thwarted by a merciless grant application form. At the second Long Night of Unfunded Projects, we’re bringing them back for 15 minutes! Artists from Bremen, Lower Saxony, and Hamburg were invited to submit their involuntarily unrealized project ideas via an open call. Eight applicants were selected by random drawing to present their project snippets, opening lines, promising beginnings, and rough cuts at the Schwankhalle. They’ll have access to a stage, a microphone, a PA system, a fog machine, and 15 minutes of the audience’s undivided attention. Afterward, there’ll be a chance to fondly say goodbye to all those great ideas over music and drinks.
