[It is quiet, occasionally there’s a light breeze, somewhere a bird sings aimlessly to itself—I am sitting at the edge of a fountain—my gaze is lost in the sparkling water of the spout]
›I wish I was a .jpg‹ is about melancholy, prolonged sleep and the question of how they can be effective as a form of self-care. As the antithesis of vigor, resilience and optimism about the future, melancholy in its action-inhibiting dimension of calmly flowing along determines the shape of the performance.
Luise März studied scenic arts in Hildesheim and works as a freelance theater and cultural producer. In her artistic practice, she tests new narrative dramaturgies in intermedia theater projects. ›I wish I was a .jpg‹ was produced in 2020 and presented at, among others, Theaterhaus Hildesheim, LOT Braunschweig, theflausen+ BANDEN! Festival of the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater and Theater Wrede, and the ARENA-Festival in Erlangen.
