A third of all marriages are divorced, twenty percent of all families have a single mother or father, there are countless singles, and yet everyone continues to believe in the great power of being a couple. The ALL IN performance ›Paare sind feindliche Inseln – Rette sich wer kann!‹ examines this narrative with a lot of humor and a feminist magnifying glass. However, the object of desire is indeed an object here. “Do you think I stand a chance with her?”, the performer asks the audience and lovingly gazes at a kettlebell. PINSKER+BERNHARDT unravel the at once highly theoretical and mundane discourse of object and partner relationship for a young audience. The focus is on the question of what it actually means to be a couple, because being a couple can feel nice and horrible at the same time, it can make one dependent and free, it can exclude and unite. And not least, being a couple is also political. How is the concept of love and coupledom embedded in the society we live in? What function does it fulfill there? Whom and how should I love? And how many?

Janna Pinsker and Wicki Bernhardt work as a choreography and performance duo in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. They create works for an intergenerational audience that examine the encounter of bodies and objects. PINSKER+BERNHARDT got to know each other at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Gießen, where they studied (or are still studying) choreography, performance and applied theater studies. Their works were presented at, among others, the FFT Düsseldorf, the Hessisches Landestheater Marburg, the Junges Nationaltheater Mannheim, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt, Theaterhaus Frankfurt, TG7 Mannheim, and various festivals.
