Falla: female inflection of phallus. Falla (Spanish): error, interruption. Falla (Catalan): candle, something you can light. Between autobiographical references and practical appropriation, the performance asks what it feels like to have a penis. What does it mean when psychoanalytical theory essentially defined female gender identity by the lack of an organ?

BIOGRAPHY
Julia B. Laperrière is a choreographer, dancer and performer based between Berlin and Montreal. Since her graduation from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), she has presented her work in Canada (Tangente, Quartiers Danses, Zone Homa, OFFTA) and internationally (France, Mexico and Germany). Julia also collaborates with artists such as Diego Agullo, Christoph Winkler, Alfredo Zinola, Josep Caballero and Michael Müller, enthusiastically blurring boundaries between dance, theatre, performance and visual arts. Working around topics of femininity, gender stereotypes and identity, Julia is interested in a dance that is generous, aiming to confront, question and touch her audience. Since her arrival in Berlin, she has presented work at Ada Studio, 3AM Flutgraben, Let-me-In Festival, Submerge Festival and P-Bodies Festival in Leipzig. She is currently supported by Fabrik Potsdam and the OFFTA for her next project ›What will come‹, which will be a co-production between Canada and Germany.
